How to Open a Bank Account in Georgia Remotely in 2026

Georgia has become one of the most accessible places in the world to open a foreign bank account without flying anywhere. In 2026 there are three banks worth knowing — Bank of Georgia (SOLO), TBC Bank and Credo Bank — and two ways to open an account remotely.

This guide explains, in plain terms, how remote account opening works, what each bank offers, and how to choose. For step-by-step detail on any bank, see the dedicated guides linked below.

Why open a bank account in Georgia?

Georgia sits at a useful crossroads for international clients: a personal multi-currency account that holds GEL, USD and EUR under one IBAN, modern mobile banking, straightforward international transfers, and account access that is open to non-residents. For remote workers, freelancers, investors and entrepreneurs, it’s a stable base outside the home country — and, unlike most countries, much of it can be set up online.

Two ways to open an account remotely

Every remote opening in Georgia follows one of two routes:

  1. Fully onlineYou complete the application and identity verification over the internet. No visit to Georgia and no power of attorney. This is the Bank of Georgia SOLO route.
  2. By power of attorneyYou prepare a notarized power of attorney, send the original to Georgia, and an authorized representative submits and activates the account on your behalf. This is the TBC and Credo route.

Both are genuinely remote — you never have to travel. The difference is the paperwork: the online route needs no power of attorney, while the representative route does.

The three banks at a glance

Bank of Georgia — SOLO

SOLO is Bank of Georgia’s premium personal banking. It opens 100% online — no power of attorney — and comes with a personal bank manager, a multi-currency account, premium cards and a strong app. A physical card is delivered to your address where delivery is available. It’s the smoothest route for most people. Read the SOLO guide →

TBC Bank — personal account

TBC is opened by power of attorney through an authorized representative in Georgia. You get a multi-currency account, the TBC mobile app, international transfers and a digital card. After activation you deal with the bank directly through its app and support. Read the TBC guide →

Credo Bank — personal account

Credo is also opened by power of attorney through a representative. You receive a multi-currency account, the MyCredo mobile app, international transfers and a digital card, and then bank directly through the app. Read the Credo guide →

How the remote process works

Whichever bank you choose, the shape of the process is similar:

  1. ApplyYou provide your personal details, passport, country of residence, occupation and expected account activity. mono checks everything and prepares the application.
  2. PrepareFor SOLO, you complete the bank’s identity verification online. For TBC or Credo, mono provides the power-of-attorney text and instructions; you notarize it (and apostille or legalize where required) and courier the original to Georgia.
  3. Submission & reviewThe application reaches the bank — directly for SOLO, or through the representative for TBC and Credo. The bank reviews it and may ask for extra documents about your income, source of funds or intended use.
  4. Activation & accessOnce approved, the account is opened and you get access to the bank’s app and card. With SOLO a physical card is shipped to you; TBC and Credo provide a digital card as part of the remote service.

What documents you may need

A valid passport and basic personal information are always required (plus a notarized power of attorney for TBC and Credo). Depending on your profile, a bank may also request:

The exact list is decided by each bank’s compliance team after reviewing the application.

How long does it take?

The online SOLO route usually takes about 5–10 business days once your information and verification are complete. The power-of-attorney route (TBC, Credo) also starts after your documents are ready, but the total time additionally depends on courier delivery of the original power of attorney to Georgia and the bank’s review.

How mono helps

mono is a concierge service that prepares and submits your application, provides power-of-attorney instructions where needed, and supports you until the account is active. You’re connected with the right people at the bank and guided through every step — so the process is structured rather than guesswork.

Is approval guaranteed?

No. mono prepares and supports the application, but the final decision is made solely by the bank according to its internal compliance requirements. Paying for mono’s service does not guarantee that the bank will approve the account.
